Morning Meditation:Walking With Jesus

2439696269_417661a295
Matthew 6:26 (New Living Translation)

Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?

Walking in the park yesterday morning this passage of scripture came to mind as I saw a duck wake up from his sleep and then slip into the lake for some breakfast. Everything that duck needed for that day was right there…just waiting for him to go get it.

It is very difficult to worry when you really know how much God loves you.

Morning Meditation:The Problem With The Anointing…

Once you have been exposed to His presence for any amount of time it makes un-anointed teaching, preaching and singing un-acceptable…

Morning Meditation:The Power Of The Gospel

1825369_8199f69fe2

The Word of God has the power to change lives and impact the world we live…but we have to be willing to boldly share it.

THE RIPPLE EFFECT

In 1855, A Sunday School teacher, a Mr. Kimball, led a Boston shoe clerk to give his life to Christ. The clerk, Dwight L. Moody, became an evangelist.

In England in 1879, Dwight L. Moody awakened evangelistic zeal in the heart of Fredrick B. Meyer, pastor of a small church.

F.B. Meyer, preaching to an American college campus, brought to Christ a student named J. Wilbur Chapman.

J. Wilbur Chapman, engaged in YMCA work, employed a former baseball player, Billy Sunday, to do evangelistic work.

Bill Sunday held a revival in Charlotte, N.C. A group of local men were so enthusiastic afterward that they planned another evangelistic campaign, bringing Mordecai Hamm to town to preach.

During Mordecai Hamm’s revival, a young man named Billy Graham heard the Gospel and yielded his life to Christ.

Only Eternity will reveal the tremendous impact of that one Sunday School teacher, Mr. Kimball, who invested his life in the lives of others.

Makes you think, doesn’t it? Everything we do in the name of Jesus Christ has an effect which will be viewed through Eternity.

Go to it!

Morning Meditation: The Preacher And His Preaching

I’m working on a project and had to listen to an old sermon that I preached last year. This is what insight I gained from this self evaluation…

  • I have a couple of catch phrases that I need to retire.
  • The message was pretty much heresy free. But I did get the context of one the scriptural references a little wrong…
  • I actually heard something during the message that was the answer to some stuff that I’ve been praying about lately.
  • There is no better job in the world than serving God and His people.

Morning Meditation:How Big Is Your Want To?

While I was preaching last week I asked the folks in attendance this question. How many of you would like to have rock hard abs of steel and almost everyone raised their hand. Then I asked them, why don’t you have them? The answer has to be is that we haven’t gone to the gym and put in the necessary work to achieve abs of steel status. In other words if we could sit around on the couch watching Oprah and could get a super buffed body we would all have one, but growth and development requires effect…so the question has to be, how big is your want to? Is your desire big enough to cause you to act and can that desire sustain you through the hard times?

DO YOU DESIRE GROWTH? “Well of course I do!” You say, but do you desire it enough to do whatever it takes to see it come to pass. Do you desire it enough to change and be willing and committed to constant change within your thinking, within your goals and plans and within your personal life? All of us know that in Psalms 37:4 the scripture tells us to “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” If your heart’s desire is to see growth then according to the word of God if you will delight yourself in the Lord he will give you the desires of your heart. Last night I went to the store to pick up some organic eggs and soy ice cream. The store I went to had the organic eggs but no soy ice cream could be found, no matter how long I walked up and down the frozen food isle. However I did see some Ben and Jerry’s New York Super Fudge Chunk…but right now Ben and Jerry’s can’t take me where I want to go.
