Morning Meditation:Taking A Wordation

1206462482_4ef3a2b363_m

Psa 63:1-8 ESV
(1)  A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
(2)  So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory.
(3)  Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you.
(4)  So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands.
(5)  My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips,
(6)  when I remember you upon my bed, and meditate on you in the watches of the night;
(7)  for you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy.
(8)  My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.

A wordation is sorta like a vacation but instead of spending all your time site seeing or eating, you spend all you time in the Word and in the presence of God. I’m going to a Bible conference next week and they’ll be five sessions a day for six days. No wife or kids (her ideal) just me, the Word and the Holy Ghost. I’m expecting to be changed by the Word and the glory of God.

I’m not going with a list of demands or any pressing need weighting in on me. I’m just going to spend some un-distracted time with the most important, powerful and wisest person in the earth…

One Man In The Holy Ghost

I believe item one on the devils agenda is keeping the Church distracted with petty fighting amongst ourselves while the world is going straight to hell. My enemy is not a some confused TV preacher…

A great post from Swerve blog I think sums it up.

If I were the devil, my number one strategy to thwart the work of God would be to divide Christ’s church. Satan certainly knows the words of Jesus that a Kingdom divided against itself cannot stand.

Jesus asked God to make all His disciples one (John 17:21). He prayed that we would be brought to complete unity (John 17:23). Paul told us to, “make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit…” (Eph. 4:3)

Unity doesn’t mean uniformity.

We shouldn’t be alike in style, philosophy, and personal preferences. We are strengthened in our diversity. We can be unified and diversified!

We don’t have to be alike or agree on minor issues to agree on the Lordship of Christ!

For example, a strong church in my community changed its worship style. Several other churches within the same denomination took out full-page ads against this church, calling them heretics. HEARTBREAKING!

As a parent, I hate when my kids fight. Imagine how God must feel when He looks at His children who can’t get along.

Morning Meditation:The Problem With The Anointing…

Once you have been exposed to His presence for any amount of time it makes un-anointed teaching, preaching and singing un-acceptable…

Jesus On The Couch Rule…

2082295513_4959da071b_b

I have a Jesus on the couch rule for my TV viewing. The Jesus on the couch rule is basically this, if I wouldn’t feel comfortable watching this with Jesus sitting next to me on the couch then maybe I shouldn’t be watching it.

Found this on Brendan Witton’s blog…maybe this will help me keep Jesus happy.

One resource that is very helpful to me is Plugged In Online. It is a website from Focus on the Family that posts reviews of all films, music, DVD and video game releases and outlines the content - the good, the bad and the ugly.

It really helps me to be discerning about what I’m ‘putting into my system’. (via brendan witton)

Morning Meditation:The Power Of The Gospel

1825369_8199f69fe2

The Word of God has the power to change lives and impact the world we live…but we have to be willing to boldly share it.

THE RIPPLE EFFECT

In 1855, A Sunday School teacher, a Mr. Kimball, led a Boston shoe clerk to give his life to Christ. The clerk, Dwight L. Moody, became an evangelist.

In England in 1879, Dwight L. Moody awakened evangelistic zeal in the heart of Fredrick B. Meyer, pastor of a small church.

F.B. Meyer, preaching to an American college campus, brought to Christ a student named J. Wilbur Chapman.

J. Wilbur Chapman, engaged in YMCA work, employed a former baseball player, Billy Sunday, to do evangelistic work.

Bill Sunday held a revival in Charlotte, N.C. A group of local men were so enthusiastic afterward that they planned another evangelistic campaign, bringing Mordecai Hamm to town to preach.

During Mordecai Hamm’s revival, a young man named Billy Graham heard the Gospel and yielded his life to Christ.

Only Eternity will reveal the tremendous impact of that one Sunday School teacher, Mr. Kimball, who invested his life in the lives of others.

Makes you think, doesn’t it? Everything we do in the name of Jesus Christ has an effect which will be viewed through Eternity.

Go to it!
